Victory
By Tony M. Suttles
Mark Timmerman claimed the official victory in the
B-Mini Stock race during the season opener races ran at the Anderson
Motor Speedway on Friday night March 21, 2008. In an unusual
circumstance
for Timmerman he found himself at the front of a field of cars that it
did not appear he could take a victory from. Following his victory
Timmerman stated, “Sometimes it is better to be lucky than good. I ran
the car as fast as it would run and if it wasn’t for the misfortunes
of the other drivers I would not have taken this win.” Chad Campbell
and Wayne Hammond battled side by side the first three laps of the
race while David Darnell moved up to the third position. On lap four
there was contact between Campbell and Hammond and Campbell took a
narrow lead. Before the lap was complete Darnell moved under Hammond
and made contact with Campbell and the two got tangled up together.
Following this incident Hammond gained the top position and Campbell
and Darnell was sent to the rear. Hammond led the next five laps
before the motor blowed in his car. Following Hammond’s demise
Timmerman took over the lead position with Scott Hamby moving into the
second position. Hamby ran close to Timmerman a couple of laps but
failed to press him for the lead. Timmerman eventually pulled away
from Hamby as he led the final half of the race and claimed the
victory. Scott Hamby finished second. Brad Burdette finished third.
Trey Gibson finished fourth. Chad Campbell finished fifth.
Chris Ingle claimed the official victory in the
Renegade division. Chris Whitfield led the
first
two laps of the race with Ken Dillard pressing him the entire time.
Dillard took over the lead on the third lap with Chris Ingle and Ray
McAdams moving to second and third respectively the next lap. Ken
Dillard was repeatedly pressured by Ingle and finally relinquished the
lead to him on lap twelve. McAdams followed Ingle to move into the
second spot. Ingle and McAdams battled the final three laps with
McAdams making a move for the lead on the final lap but a lapped car
was in his way which made him slow and almost cost him the second
position. While McAdams maneuvered by the lapped car Ingle took the
checkered flag. Ray McAdams finished second. Ken Dillard finished
third. Chris Whitfield finished fourth. Bryan Beckner finished fifth.
Wesley Thompson claimed the overall victory and the
victory in the Pro portion of the 600 Legends race. Thompson was
pressed the first half of the race by RS Senter but following a
caution on lap ten Thompson was able to pull away from his nearest
competitor the final ten laps of the race. RS Senter held on to finish
second overall and claim the victory in the Semi-Pro portion of the
race. Kevin Eskew finished third. Jerry Rector finished fourth overall
and claimed the official victory in the Masters portion of the race.
John Gallman finished fifth.
Barry Tollison Jr claimed the official victory in the
Super Renegade race. Tollison led every lap of the race and
outdistanced his nearest competitor the entire race. Zac Lane finished
second. Earl Young finished third. Benny Greenway finished fourth.
Andrew Free finished fifth.
Zack Dillon claimed the official victory in the C-Mini
Stock race. Dillon led the first lap of the race but relinquished the
lead to Chad Black on lap two. Black led the next three laps before
Dillon reclaimed the top spot. Once out front for the second time
Dillon gradually pulled away from his nearest competitor and led the
remainder of the laps on his way to the victory. Chad Black finished
second. Kayla Pritchett finished third. Brandon Hendrix finished
fourth. Austin Northcutt finished fifth.
Austin Aker claimed the official victory in the Young
Guns division. Avery Burgess finished second. The Young Guns drivers
ran with the C-Mini Stock drivers once again since there was a limited
number of drivers competing.
Chuck Mitchell claimed the official victory in the B-M
Modified race. For the majority of the race Mitchell held the third
position but was able to move to second as the race neared its
conclusion. A caution appeared soon thereafter and it became an
unfortunate situation for Matt Meyer whom had led every lap of the
race thus far. Following the caution Mitchell immediately placed the
pressure on Meyer and took over the lead the following lap. Once out
front Mitchell led the final lap and took the victory. Matt Meyer
finished second. Jeffrey Kummer finished third. Will Ragsdale finished
fourth. Shawn Mize finished fifth.
