Hamby Victorious In B-Mini Stock Division, McAdams Grabs “Talking
Phonebook” Renegade Victory
By Tony M. Suttles
Scott Hamby claimed the official victory in the B-Mini
Stock race ran at the Anderson Motor Speedway on Friday night March
28, 2008. Hamby took the lead on the first lap of the race and never
looked back as he clearly out paced the rest of the competition. Hamby
led every lap of the twenty lap feature race for the B-Mini Stock
cars. Trey Gibson battled his way to the second position near the half
way point of the race but failed to cut into Hamby’s advantage before
the laps ran out on the race. Trey Gibson finished second. Chad
Campbell finished third. Mark Timmerman finished fourth. David Darnell
finished fifth.
Ray McAdams claimed the official victory in the fifteen
lap “Talking Phonebook” Renegade race. McAdams took the lead as soon
as the green flag dropped on the race and subsequently led every lap
of the race on his way to the victory. Ken Dillard held the second
position until the final lap of the race when he was bypassed by the
previous week’s winner Chris Ingle. Even though Dillard held the
second position the majority of the race he failed to maintain the
pace set by McAdams. Chris Ingle finished second. Ken Dillard finished
third. Chris Whitfield finished fourth. Jim Skinner finished fifth.
Zac Lane claimed the official victory in the Super
Renegade race. The victory was the first for Lane in the Super
Renegade division. Sam Roberts took the lead as soon as the green flag
dropped on the race but as he entered turn one his car broke loose and
he slid up to the high side of the turn. This gave Lane the inside
line and he immediately took advantage of Roberts’ misfortune and
drove under Roberts and took over the top spot. Once out front Lane
held the position the remainder of the race and technically led every
lap of the race. Roberts, along with Earl Young, battled each other
and closed on Lane but neither were able to get past Lane for the
lead. Earl Young nailed down the second position late in the race and
ran close to Lane the last couple laps but had to settle for the
second place finish. Sam Roberts battled his ill handling race car
ever lap but managed to finish third. Travis Barbare finished fourth.
Kevin Eskew claimed the overall victory and the victory
in the Semi Pro Class of cars competing in the 600 Legends race. RS
Senter held the lead the first fifteen laps of the race but had Eskew
all over him during this tenure. Eventually Eskew grabbed the lead on
the fifteenth lap and led the final five laps to secure his first
overall victory in the Legends class while competing at the Anderson
Motor Speedway. Wesley Thompson moved to the second position a couple
of laps after Eskew took the lead but failed to press Eskew for the
top spot. Wesley Thompson finished second and claimed the official
victory in the Pro class of cars competing in the race. RS Senter
battled Thompson in an effort to regain the second position once he
relinquished it to him but failed to overtake Thompson in order to
regain the position. RS Senter finished third. Jerry Rector finished
fourth and claimed the official victory in the Masters class of cars
competing. John Gallman finished fifth.
Matt Meyer claimed the official victory in the B-M
Modified division. Meyer and Shawn Mize battled side by side the first
lap of the race with Meyer taking the lead at the end of the first lap
by a nose. On the second lap Chuck Mitchell moved to the second
position. Although Mitchell held the second position the remainder of
the race he failed to press Meyer for the lead. Meyer led every lap of
the race on his way to the victory. Chuck Mitchell finished second.
Jeffrey Kummer finished third. Shawn Mize finished fourth. Jock White
finished fifth.
Zack Dillon claimed the official victory in the C Mini
Stock division. An early incident removed one of the two front row
cars before a lap was completed which allowed Dillon to start on the
front row. Dillon and Chad Stewart battled the first lap before
Stewart tagged the wall and dropped back in the field. Dillon
immediately pulled away from the remainder of the field and went on to
lead every lap of the race and pick up his second victory in a row.
Kayla Pritchett took over the second position early in the race and
although she was able to cut into Dillon’s advantage she never got
close enough to challenge him. Kayla Pritchett finished second.
Brandon Hendrix finished third. Chad Black finished fourth. Chad
Stewart finished fifth.
Avery Burgess claimed the official victory in the Young
Guns race. Due to limited number of Young Guns drivers the Young Guns
competed with the C Mini Stock cars. Burgess held his own as he
finished the race in a top five position and ran with the more
experienced drivers during the race. The victory was the career first
victory for Burgess. Austin Aker finished second.
