Sargent Takes Spring
B-Mini stock Championship Victory
Cordell Repeats in Super Renegade Race

Sargent claimed the victory in the special 25 lap B-Mini Stock Spring
Championship race ran at the Anderson Motor Speedway on Friday night
April 28, 2007. Sargent led only one lap of the race but he led the
one that
counted. David Darnell led the majority of the laps in the
race but failed to lead the final lap. Darnell made it three wide on
the first lap in order to grab the lead position. Darnell was
pressured repeatedly the first sixteen laps of the race by Wayne Smith
but was able to hold him off. But Smith was adamant and made a bid on
lap seventeen and the two battled side by side for two laps before
Smith grabbed the lead position. Smith held the lead until lap twenty
three when he encountered a problem and dropped off the pace. Smith
resumed the lead and received the white flag with Sargent coming on
strong. The two touched as they entered turn one and Darnell dirt
tracked it into turn two and narrowly kept control of the car. Sargent
grabbed the lead out of turn two and led the final half a lap to take
the victory. Wayne Hammond also got past Darnell and finished second.
David Darnell dropped to third. Mark Timmerman finished fourth. Jeff
Bruce finished fifth.
Anthony
Cordell claimed his second victory in a row in the Super Renegade
race. Cordell started in the fourth position and worked his way to the
front of the field to take the victory. Barry Tollison led the first
ten laps before Cordell bypassed him for the lead position. Once out
front Cordell pulled away to seal the deal. Barry Tollison finished
second. Whitey Suttles crossed the finish line third and Eric Stokes
came across fourth. Suttles refused to pull down after the race and
Stokes failed to pass post race inspection. Therefore Brian Beckner
whom came across the finish line in fifth claimed the third place
finish. Ryan Lockwood finished fourth. Eddie Henderson Jr. finished
fifth.
Michael York claimed the victory in
the C-Mini Stock race which was his third victory of the season. Tony
Barnette held the lead the first six laps of the race before he was
bypassed by York. Once out front York pulled away for the win. Chad
Black finished second. Jimmy Burgess finished third. Tony Barnette
finished fourth. Chad Stewart finished fifth.
Alan Mitchell and Chuck Mitchell
battled repeatedly in the B-M Modified race with Alan Mitchell
claiming the official victory in the end. The two battled side by side
the first two laps of the race before Alan grabbed the lead but Chuck
was not ready to give in. Chuck made a bid for the lead on lap twelve
and the two battled side by side for three laps with Chuck taking the
lead at the line on lap fifteen. But on lap sixteen Alan regained the
lead. Son Chuck made one final bid on the final lap but Dad Alan held
him off for the win. Chuck Mitchell finished second. Jeff McMahan
finished third. Nancy Fassett finished fourth. Frank Williams finished
fifth.
Wesley Thompson grabbed the overall
victory and the victory in the Pro portion of the 600 Legends race.
Justin Ashley led the first five laps with Thompson all over him the
entire time. Thompson grabbed the lead on lap six but Ashley was not
ready to give in. Ashley made a bid for the lead on laps sixteen and
nineteen but each time Thompson held him at bay to secure the victory.
Justin Ashley finished second and claimed the victory in the Semi Pro
portion of the race. John Gallman finished third. Jerry Rector
finished fourth and claimed the victory in the Masters portion of the
race. RS Senter finished fifth.
Mike Childers led every lap and
claimed the victory in the Renegade race. The victory was the first of
the season for Childers. Chad Watt battled Childers throughout the
race but failed to over take him for the lead position. Chad Watt
finished second. Justin Cone finished third. Joe Powell finished
fourth. Brian Powell Jr. finished fifth.
Austin Northcutt led every lap of the
Young Guns race and claimed the official victory. The victory was the
third of the season for Northcutt and his second victory in a row.
Austin Aker finished second. Trey Gibson finished third. Former
Winston Cup star Ernie Irvan made a special appearance to the Anderson
Motor Speedway and cheered Northcutt to victory.
