Race
By Tony M. Suttles
Mark Timmerman claimed the official victory in the 40
lap, $500 to win B-Mini Stock Spring
Championship
race ran at the Anderson Motor Speedway on Friday night May 16, 2008.
Scott Hamby led the first thirty seven laps of the race before he
relinquished the lead to Mark Timmerman on lap thirty eight. Timmerman
had made a previous bid for the lead on lap thirty three but the top
two cars ran up on a lapped car and Timmerman had to drop back in line
behind Hamby. The second time Timmerman initiated his advance for the
lead the top two ran up on another lapped car but this time Timmerman
refused to drop back behind Hamby and for a short distance they ran
three wide with the lapped car. Once out front Timmerman pulled to a
car length advantage and held it till the checkered flag dropped on
the race. Scott Hamby finished second. Trey Gibson finished third.
David Darnell finished fourth. Chad Campbell finished fifth.
Bryan Beckner claimed the official victory in the
‘Talking Phonebook’ Renegade race. Chris Ingle led the first twelve
laps of the race with Beckner nailed to his rear bumper the entire
distance.
Beckner
tried to make a couple of attempts at the lead earlier in the race but
each time he decided to make a move on the leader a caution flag would
appear. Finally on lap fourteen Beckner got beside Ingle and at the
end of the lap he over took him for the top spot. Once out front
Beckner pulled to a two car length advantage and held it till the race
ended. Chris Ingle finished second. Ken Dillard finished third. Chris
Whitfield finished fourth. Jim Skinner finished fifth.
Barry Tollison Jr. claimed the official victory in the
Super Renegade race. Zac Lane held the lead in the race the first five
laps before Tollison Jr. bypassed him. Tollison Jr.’s time at the top
was short lived because he slipped up and Lane regained the lead the
next lap. But Tollison Jr. was determined and on lap nine he bypassed
Lane for the second and final time. Once out front this time Tollison
Jr. pulled to a three car length advantage and held it till the end of
the race. Zac Lane finished second. Sam Roberts finished third. Earl
Young finished fourth. Mike Shaw finished fifth.
Currie Pierce claimed the overall victory and the
victory in the Semi Pro portion of the 600 Legends race. Three
different drivers shared the top spot during the race and it took a
last lap pass to determine the victor of the Legends race. Currie
Pierce grabbed the lead as soon as the green flag dropped on the race
and held it until he was passed by Wesley Thompson on lap three.
Thompson held the lead until lap eight when he relinquished the lead
to Kevin Eskew. Once Eskew grabbed the lead he failed to pull away and
Thompson remained glued to his rear deck lid. The two ran that way
till lap fifteen when there was contact and Eskew spun. Thompson
regained the lead and held the lead until the final lap when Pierce
battled past him to regain the lead. Pierce held off Thompson and John
Gallman the final lap to secure the overall victory. John Gallman
finished second. Wesley Thompson finished third and claimed the
victory in the Pro portion of the race. Jerry Rector finished fourth
and claimed the victory in the Masters portion of the race. Randy
Dilling finished fifth.
Chad Stewart claimed the official victory in the C-Mini
Stock race. Stewart led every lap of the race and was never seriously
challenged during the race. Chad Black finished second. Austin
Northcutt finished third. Kayla Pritchett finished fourth. Brandon
Hendrix finished fifth.
Austin Aker claimed the official victory in the Young
Guns race. RS West finished second. Avery Burgess finished third. The
Young Gun drivers competed along with the C-Mini Stock drivers again
and during the race each of the drivers held the top Young Guns lead
position at least once. Austin Aker took control of the top Young Guns
position on lap eight and finished fifth overall in the combo race.
Chuck Mitchell claimed the official victory in the B-M
Modified race. Mitchell led every lap of the race on his way to the
victory. Matt Meyer came from the rear to second on lap six and
although he initially cut into Mitchell’s advantage he failed to get
close enough to contend for the victory. Matt Meyer finished second.
Casey Tucker finished third. Tasha Kummer finished fourth. Chris
Barnes finished fifth.
