Andy Garrett Captures Charger
Championship Victory
Justin Cone Takes
“Talking Phonebook” Renegade Victory

Andy
Garrett led every lap of the twenty five lap, $300 to win Charger
Championship race ran at the Anderson Motor Speedway on Friday night
May 18, 2007. Andy Norris held the second position throughout the race
and ran within a car length of Garrett every lap but failed to make a
serious bid for the lead position. Andy Garrett led every lap and
claimed the official victory. Andy Norris finished second. Chuck
Garrett finished third. Jamie Altop finished fourth. Rick Kelley
finished fifth.
Justin Cone claimed the
official victory in the “Talking Phonebook”
Renegade
race which was his first victory of the season. Cone grabbed the lead
as soon as the green flag dropped on the race but soon found himself
in a whale of a battle to hold on to the lead position. On lap three
Ken Dillard closed on Cone and by lap seven the two were side by side
battling for the lead position. On laps ten and eleven Dillard held
the advantage at the start finish line by a fender length but Cone
regained the lead by a narrow margin on laps twelve and thirteen and
then on lap fourteen Cone managed to pull back out front for good.
Once out front for the second time Cone pulled away to a car length
advantage and received the checkered flag and claimed the official
victory. Ken Dillard finished second. Chad Watt finished third.
Freddie Hale, Jr. finished fourth. Brian Powell, Jr. finished fifth.
Barry Tollison led the
first five laps of the Super Renegade race before he relinquished the
lead to Anthony Cordell. The two battled side by side for two laps
before Cordell grabbed the lead position. Cordell led the remainder of
the race and received the checkered flag with Tollison finishing in
the second position. Following the race Cordell failed to pass post
race inspection and Barry Tollison was declared the official winner.
Whitey Suttles began closing on the top two from the middle of the
race until the last lap of the race but failed to get close enough to
challenge the top two. Whitey Suttles took the second place finish.
Zack Lane finished third. Eddie Henderson finished fourth. Benny
Greenway finished fifth.
Ben Kay and Brandon
Hendrix battled side by side the first two laps of the C-Mini Stock
race before Hendrix nailed down the lead position on lap three. Kay
remained glued to Hendrix’s bumper throughout the race but failed to
take the lead position away from Hendrix. Hendrix received the
checkered flag but following the race Kay lodged a protest upon
Hendrix’s car. Brandon Hendrix failed the protest and Ben Kay was
declared the official winner. Michael York finished second. Chad
Stewart finished third. Jimmy Burgess finished fourth.
Will Ragsdale led every
lap of the B-M Modified race as he claimed his first victory of the
season. Chuck Mitchell held the second position every lap of the race
but failed to challenge Ragsdale. Chuck Mitchell finished second. Alan
Mitchell finished third. Billy Coker finished fourth. Frank Williams
finished fifth.
Wesley Thompson grabbed
the lead on lap nine of the 600 Legends race and held off Justin
Ashley in order to capture the overall victory and the victory in the
Pro portion of the race. Justin Ashley moved to second when Thompson
grabbed the lead and challenged Thompson a couple of times before he
the race concluded. Ashley finished second and claimed the victory in
the Semi Pro portion of the race. John Gallman led the first eight
laps before he relinquished the lead to Thompson. Gallman finished in
the third position. Andrew Smith finished fourth. Jerry Rector
finished fifth and claimed the victory in the Masters portion of the
race. The top six ran virtually bumper to bumper the majority of the
race.
Wayne Smith took the
lead on lap nine of the B-Mini Stock race and held the lead the
remainder of the race as he claimed his first victory of the season.
David Darnell moved to the second position soon after Smith grabbed
the lead but Darnell failed to press Smith for the lead and had to
settle for the second place finish. Mark Timmerman finished third.
Scott Hamby held the lead the first eight laps before he was bypassed
by Smith. Scott Hamby finished fourth. Chad Campbell finished fifth.
Trey Gibson grabbed the
lead on lap six of the Young Guns race and led the remainder of the
laps and claimed the official victory. Austin Northcutt led the first
five laps of the race before he relinquished the lead to Gibson.
Austin Northcutt finished second. Austin Akers finished third.
