Dillard Victorious In ‘Talking
Phonebook’ Renegade Race, Mitchell Takes Victory In B-M Modified Race

Ken Dillard claimed the official victory in the
‘Talking Phonebook’ Renegade race ran at the Anderson Motor
Speedway
on Friday night May 23, 2008. Dillard led every lap of the race on his
way to the victory. Dillard became the sixth different driver to claim
a victory in the Renegade division this season. Shawn Campbell pressed
Dillard the first five laps of the race but soon dropped off the pace
set by Dillard. Shawn Campbell finished second. Chris Ingle finished
third. Chris Whitfield finished fourth. Jim Reynolds finished fifth.
Chuck
Mitchell claimed the official victory in the BM Modified race.
Mitchell grabbed the lead as soon as the green flag dropped on the
race and never looked back. He easily out distanced the remainder of
the field. Cory Gibson finished second. Jock White finished third.
Matt Meyer finished fourth. Casey Tucker finished fifth.
Mark Timmerman claimed the official victory in the
B-Mini Stock race. Chad Campbell and Trey Gibson battled side by side
the first lap with Campbell taking the lead at the end of the lap.
Campbell held the lead the first five laps of the race while Wayne
Hammond worked his way to the front. On the sixth lap Hammond bypassed
Campbell and took over the lead position. Once out front Hammond led
the remainder of the race and received the checkered flag. For the
last two laps Mark Timmerman pressed Campbell for the second position
and barely passed him for the position at the finish line. This last
lap battle between Timmerman and Campbell proved to be the battle for
the victory because Hammond failed to pass the post race inspection
and Timmerman was awarded the victory. Chad Campbell finished second.
BJ Thrasher finished third. Trey Gibson finished fourth. Scott Hamby
finished fifth.
Brandon Hendrix claimed the official victory in the
C-Mini Stock race. Austin Northcutt and Brandon Hendrix battled side
by side the first two laps of the race with Northcutt leading the
first lap. Hendrix grabbed the lead at the end of lap two and never
looked back. Once he took control of the top position he held it the
remainder of the race. Northcutt looked to the inside of Hendrix a
couple of times but failed to make a move to regain the lead. Austin
Northcutt finished second. Chad Stewart finished third. Jack Kelley
finished fourth. Chad Black finished fifth.
Austin Aker claimed the official Young Guns victory.
The Young Guns ran with the C-Mini Stock and Avery burgess held the
top spot the first three laps before he relinquished it to Aker. Once
Aker took over the top Young Guns position he held it till the end of
the race. Avery Burgess finished second. RJ West finished third.
Austin Hill claimed the overall victory and the Semi
Pro victory in the 600 Legends race that was ran. John Gallman held
the lead position the first three laps of the race before he
relinquished the top position to Hill. Taylor Hull moved to the second
position on the eighth lap and closed on the leader soon thereafter.
Hull ran bumper to bumper with Hill the remainder of the race and took
a look under hill more than once but hill held off hull to secure the
victory. Taylor Hull finished second and claimed the victory in the
Pro division. John Gallman finished third. Drew Brown finished fourth.
Wesley Thompson finished fifth. Jerry Rector finished seventh and
claimed the victory in the Masters division.
Sam Roberts claimed the official victory in the Super
Renegade race. Roberts and Earl Young battled the first lap of the
race with Roberts taking the lead at the end of the race. Young
remained glued to Roberts’ rear bumper and made his move for the lead
on the eleventh lap. As he tried to bypass Roberts at the end of the
lap the two made contact and Roberts spun. Young assumed the lead but
it was short-lived because on the restart he slipped and Roberts and
Zac lane bypassed him as soon as the race restarted. The two battled
side by side for a lap with Roberts retaking the lead once again.
Young moved to second the following lap and made a last ditch effort
to regain the lead on the last lap but came up short. Roberts held on
to take the victory. Earl Young finished second. Zac Lane finished
third. Mike Thompson finished fourth. John Shaw, Sr. finished fifth.
