Jimmy
Burgess claimed the official victory in the twenty lap, $250 to win
C-Mini Stock Championship race ran at the Anderson Motor Speedway on
Friday night June 22, 2007. The victory was the second in a row for
Burgess and the second time that Burgess has failed to receive the
checkered flag before receiving the official victory. Brandon Hendrix
led every lap of the featured race and received the checkered flag but
failed to pass post race inspection. Jimmy Burgess ran second the
majority of the race and pressured Hendrix repeatedly but failed to
pass him for the lead position. Michael York finished second. Chad
Stewart finished third. Jack Kelly finished fourth. Chad Black
finished fifth.
Shawn
Campbell made his first appearance of the 2007 season and proceeded to
lead every lap of the "Talking Phonebook" Renegade race and claim the
official victory. Justin Cone pressured Campbell several times during
the race and made a last lap bid for the lead but failed as Campbell
out distanced him to the checkered flag. Justin Cone finished second.
Brian Beckner finished third. Jim Skinner finished fourth. Tyrone
Anglin finished fifth.
Mark Timmerman claimed the official
victory in the B-Mini Stock division. Chad Campbell led the first six
laps of the race before he relinquished the lead position to
Timmerman. The two battled for three of the laps with them side by
side on more than one of those laps before Timmerman took over the
lead spot. Once out front Timmerman was pressured by Campbell on
almost every lap but Timmerman held him at bay to secure the victory.
Chad Campbell finished second. David Darnell missed a gear at the
start of the race and had to drop from the front of the field to the
back of the field. Darnell battled his way to the front and was close
to the leaders when the laps ran out on the race. David Darnell
finished third. Scott Hamby held the second position a couple of laps
but soon dropped back and finished fourth. Wayne Hammond finished
fifth.
Wesley Thompson claimed the overall
victory and the victory in the Pro portion of the 600 Legends race.
Justin Ashley led the first seventeen laps of the race before he
encountered heavy lapped traffic and as he attempted to navigate his
way between two cars he made contact with one of the cars which sent
the right side of his car airborne. As Ashley fought to regain control
of his car Thompson closed the gap that Ashley had placed upon him and
bypassed Ashley for the lead. Ashley closed on Thompson and made a
last lap attempt to regain the lead as the two exited turn four on the
final lap but came up short. Justin Ashley finished second and claimed
the official victory in the Semi Pro portion of the race. Andrew Brown
finished third. Jerry Rector finished fourth and claimed the victory
in the Masters portion of the race. RS Senter finished fifth.
Matt Meyer led every lap of the B-M
Modified race and claimed the official victory. Will Ragsdale and
Chuck Mitchell elected to start on the rear of the field after
finishing first and second respectively in the heat race. By lap five
the two had moved to the second and third place positions with each
closing on Meyer. Mitchell pressured Meyer repeatedly the remainder of
the race but failed to bypass him for the lead position. Chuck
Mitchell finished second. Ragsdale didn’t fare as well since he spun
near the half way mark in the race and then had other problems which
forced him out of the race. Ragsdale was scored seventh. Shawn Mize
finished third. Alan Mitchell finished fourth. Frank Williams finished
fifth.
Dylan Wages picked up first victory of
the season in the Young Guns race. Austin Northcutt led the first five
laps of the race before he was bypassed by Trey Gibson. Gibson led the
final five laps of the race and received the checkered flag. Northcutt
finished second while barely holding Austin Aker at bay for the
position. Austin Aker came across the finish line third with Dylan
Wages completing the field. Following the race the top three protested
back and forth and some refused to pull down while others failed to
pass the inspection. The technical inspector stated after the race
that top three nit picked at each other’s cars and eventually items
were found wrong on each of the top three cars. Since the top three
failed inspection the official victory was awarded to Dylan Wages.
