Kummer Takes B-M Modified Summer
Championship Victory, Timmerman Victorious In B-Mini Stock Race
By Tony M. Suttles
Jeffrey
Kummer claimed the official victory in the twenty lap Brown
Motorsports (B-M) Modified Summer Championship race ran at the
Anderson Motor Speedway on Friday night June 27, 2008. The victory was
the second victory in a row for Kummer. Trey Gibson held the lead the
first fourteen laps of the race before he relinquished the position to
Kummer. Once out front Kummer pulled to a car length advantage and
held it to secure the victory. Trey Gibson finished second. Chuck
Mitchell finished third. Alan Mitchell finished fourth. Casey Tucker
finished fifth.
Mark
Timmerman claimed the official victory in the B-Mini Stock race. BJ
Thrasher grabbed the lead position as soon as the green flag dropped
on the race. On lap two Mark Timmerman moved to the second position.
Thrasher immediately pulled to a two car length advantage and appeared
to be on his way to his second victory of the season. But at the end
of lap six as he exited turn four his car got real loose as he exited
turn four and it took all he had to regather the car under himself.
Thrasher maintained the lead but this slip up allowed Mark Timmerman
to cut the lead to less than a car length. For the next five laps
Thrasher kept his car under control but at the end of lap eleven he
slipped again and this time Timmerman made a run on the high side and
took over the lead. Soon after Timmerman took the lead David Darnell,
Chad Campbell, and several other cars also bypassed Thrasher.
Eventually Thrasher spun and dropped out of the race. Once out front
Timmerman pulled to a two car length advantage and held it the
remainder of the race. Darnell and Campbell battled several laps with
Darnell taking the position in the end. David Darnell finished second.
Chad Campbell finished third. Brad Burdette finished fourth. Michael
York finished fifth.
Zac Lane claimed the official victory in the Super
Renegade race. Lane led every lap of the race and claimed his second
victory of the season. Whitey Suttles ran close to Lane the first
eleven laps of the race but apparently experienced a problem and
dropped back to the fourth position on lap twelve. Once Suttles
dropped off Lane’s pace Lane stretched his advantage and in the end he
took the victory by more than a straight away over his nearest
competitor. Sam Roberts took over the second position on lap twelve
and held the position till the end of the race. Earl Young finished
third. Whitey Suttles finished fourth. Eddie Henderson finished fifth.
Chad Watt claimed the official victory in the Renegade
race. Watt and Bryan Beckner battled side by side the first two laps
of the race until a caution appeared. When the race was restarted watt
was posted at the front and he immediately grabbed a car length
advantage over Beckner. Shawn Campbell moved to the second position
near the middle of the race but by then Watt had about a six car
length advantage. Campbell immediately began to cut into Watt’s
advantage and by lap twelve he was running bumper to bumper with Watt.
Campbell took a look under Watt on lap thirteen but on lap fourteen he
slipped a little in turn three and this allowed Watt just enough
distance to secure the victory. The victory was the first of the
season for Watt. Shawn Campbell finished second. Bryan Beckner
finished third. Jim Reynolds finished fourth. Chris Whitfield finished
fifth.
Devin Jones claimed the overall victory and the
victory in the Semi Pro portion of the 600 Legends race. Jones and
Kevin Eskew battled the first lap of the race with Jones taking the
lead at the end of the lap. On lap two Jerry Rector moved to the
second position and immediately went after the leader. Rector made
several bids for the lead and took the lead on the ninth lap. But
Rector’s time at the front was short-lived because Jones repassed him
on lap eleven in order to retake the top position. Once out front
Jones pulled to a three car length advantage and held it the remainder
of the race. Kevin Eskew took over the second position on lap twelve
but failed to mount a challenge for the lead position. Kevin Eskew
finished second. Jerry Rector finished third and claimed the victory
in the Masters portion of the race. Justin Ashley finished fourth and
claimed the victory in the Pro portion of the race. John Gallman
finished fifth.
Austin Northcutt claimed the official victory in the
C-Mini Stock race. Northcutt led every lap of the race on his way to
the victory. Brandon Hendrix held the second position throughout the
race but failed to make a serious bid for the top spot during the
race. Brandon Hendrix finished second. Chad Black finished third.
Kayla Pritchett finished fourth. Tony Barnett finished fifth.
The Young Guns drivers competed along with the C-mini
Stock drivers and Austin Aker finished fifth overall in the race and
took the official victory among the Young Guns drivers. RJ West
finished second. Avery Burgess finished third.
