Mark
Timmerman claimed the victory in the Hooter’s B-Mini Stock
Championship race ran at the Anderson Motor Speedway on Friday night
June 9, 2007. Timmerman and David Darnell put on a show for the crowd
as the two ran side by side for almost half of the race with the two
crossing the finish line virtually dead even. Wayne Smith grabbed the
lead as soon as the green flag dropped on the twenty lap race and held
the lead until the end of the fourth lap when he relinquished the lead
to David Darnell. When Darnell grabbed the lead position Mark
Timmerman immediately took over the second position on the same lap.
Timmerman began putting pressure on Darnell on lap seven and by lap
twelve the two were side by side. For the final eight laps of the race
the two remained side by side and as they crossed the finish line it
was virtually a tie but the officials determined that Timmerman took
the victory by inches plus the official scorer stated that if the two
were dead even at the line the victor would be determined as the man
with the inside racing line. David Darnell finished second. Chad
Campbell made some daring moves including a three wide pass in order
to move to third on the eighth lap of the race. While the top two were
battling for the lead Campbell was closing on the two on each lap of
the race and had closed within a car length when the race ended. If
there had been a few more laps in the race Campbell would have made it
a three way battle for the lead. But in the end Campbell settled for
the third place finish. Scott Hamby finished fourth. Wayne Smith
finished fifth.
Shane
Gentry claimed the official victory in the Super Renegade race. Tyrone
Anglin gained the lead position as soon as the race started but Shane
Gentry was immediately nailed to his
rear bumper. Shane Gentry bypassed Anglin on lap three of the race
and took over the lead position. Gentry led the race until Whitey
Suttles moved to the second position. Whitey Suttles, moved from the
rear of the field to the second position and closed on Gentry on lap
ten. Suttles made a bid for the lead on lap eleven but Gentry was able
to hold him off. Suttles made a second attempt on lap thirteen and was
able to bypass Gentry on the high side of the track. Once out front
seventy year old Whitey Suttles led the final two laps and received
the checkered flag. Unfortunately for Suttles his car was declared
illegal following the race and Shane Gentry was awarded the official
victory. Tyrone Anglin finished second. Barry Tollison finished third.
Zac Lane finished fourth. Zach Anglin finished fifth.
Ken Dillard claimed the official
victory in the ‘Talking Phonebook’ Renegade race. Ken Dillard led the
first five laps of the race with Terry Thurston and Justin Cone all
over him each lap. Thurston made several attempts to grab the lead
position and finally did on lap five. But by the time Thurston made
his move for the lead Justin Cone was attempting to make it three wide
for the lead position. Thurston held the lead at the end of laps five
and six by a nose each lap since Justin Cone was determined to take
that position. Then on lap seven Cone was able to bypass Thurston and
take over the lead position. For the next five laps Thurston pressured
Cone but was unable to get past him. Then a caution appeared and on
the restart Cone got up to speed slowly and Thurston nailed him in the
rear. A caution came out for debris but Thurston spun in turn two and
hit the inside wall. That removed Thurston and put Dillard in the
second position. Dillard failed to press Cone as Cone led the
remainder of the race and received the checkered flag. But also
unfortunately for Cone his car was declared illegal following the race
and Ken Dillard was awarded the official victory. Chad Watt finished
second. Kevin Shaw Jr finished third. Jimbo Mann finished fourth. Mike
Shaw finished fifth.
Wesley Thompson led every lap of the
600 Legends race as he claimed the overall victory and the victory in
the Pro Portion of the race. Justin Ashley pressured Thompson the
first fifteen laps of the race before he dropped back but then Ashley
closed once again on lap eighteen and made a bid for the lead but
Thompson held him off to secure the victory. Justin Ashley finished
second and claimed the victory in the Semi-Pro portion of the race.
Jerry Rector finished third and claimed the victory in the Masters
portion of the race. John Gallman finished fourth. Andrew Brown
finished fifth.
Ben Kay claimed the official victory
in the C-Mini Stock race. Chad Stewart and Brandon Hendrix battled
side by side the first lap of the race with Stewart taking the lead at
the end of the lap. Stewart led the next five laps when a caution
appeared for a mishap in turn two. During the caution Stewart was
advised to take his car to the pits due to a dragging exhaust pipe.
Brandon Hendrix assumed the lead position when Stewart was sent to the
pits. Hendrix led the final ten laps and received the checkered flag.
Ben Kay ran bumper to bumper with Hendrix and challenged him for the
lead but failed to get past him. But after the race Hendrix refused to
pull his car down so therefore he failed to pass post race inspection
and Kay was awarded the official victory. Chad Black finished second.
Michael York finished third. Zac Dillon finished fourth. Jack Kelley
finished fifth.
Matt Meyers claimed the official
victory in the B-M Modified division. Chuck Mitchell led the first
eleven laps of the race with Meyers pressing him for the lead on every
lap. Meyers even bypassed Mitchell on lap eight as the two entered
turn two but Mitchell regained the lead as the two exited turn four.
Meyers grabbed the lead for good on lap twelve when he bypassed
Mitchell down the backstretch. Once out front Meyers held Mitchell off
the final laps of the race in order to take his second victory in a
row. Chuck Mitchell finished second. Alan Mitchell finished third.
Will Ragsdale finished fourth. Matt Green finished fifth.
Trey Gibson claimed the official
victory in the Young Guns race. Trey Gibson and Austin Northcutt
battled side by side the first lap of the Young Guns race with Gibson
grabbing the lead at the end of the lap. Once out front Gibson went
unchallenged the remainder of the race. The victory was the fourth in
a row and fifth of the season for Gibson. Austin Northcutt finished
second. Austin Aker finished third.
