By Tony M. Suttles
Scott
Hamby claimed the official victory in the B Mini Stock race ran at the
Anderson Motor Speedway on Friday night July 11, 2008. Brad Burdette
grabbed the lead as soon as the green flag dropped on the race. Scott
Hamby dropped into the second position and immediately glued his front
bumper to Burdette’s rear bumper. The top two ran nose to tail the
first lap and a half with Hamby making a move soon thereafter. At the
end of the second lap Hamby took the lead by less than six inches at
the finish line. On lap three Hamby moved to the front of the field
where he would remain the remainder of the race. Brian Powell moved to
the second position on lap six and pressed Hamby several times before
he relinquished the position to Mark Timmerman on lap fifteen. When
Timmerman took over the second position Hamby had managed to pull to
about a six car length advantage. Timmerman began to cut into Hamby’s
advantage immediately. By lap eighteen the two were bumper to bumper.
Timmerman looked to make a move several times but held off until the
final turn of the final lap. Timmerman made a run out of turn four but
came up short by about two feet. Scott Hamby took the victory. Mark
Timmerman finished second. Brian Powell finished third. David Darnell
finished fourth. Chad Campbell finished fifth.
Shawn
Campbell claimed the official victory in the ‘Talking Phonebook’
Renegade race. Campbell took the lead in the race as soon as the green
flag dropped on the race and never looked back. His car was on a rail
and by the half way mark in the race Campbell held over a half a
straight away advantage. Campbell held the advantage the remainder of
the race and picked up his fifth victory of the season. Barry Tollison
Jr. came from the rear of the field to finish second. Bryan Beckner
finished third. Chris Whitfield finished fourth. Ken Dillard finished
fifth.
Chad Black claimed the official victory in the C-Mini
Stock race. Chad Stewart grabbed the lead as soon as the green flag
dropped on the race with Chad Black moving into the second position
directly behind Stewart. Black pressed Stewart numerous times during
the race but failed to get past him. Stewart held the lead every lap
of the race and received the checkered flag with Black finishing
second. Following the race Stewart failed to pass post race inspection
and the victory was awarded to Black. Terry Mulkey finished second.
Kayla Pritchett finished third. Tony Barnett finished fourth. Chip
Barnett finished fifth.
Avery Burgess claimed the official Young Guns victory.
The Young Guns drivers ran with the C-mini Stock drivers and Burgess
finished fourth overall and claimed the Young guns victory. Burgess
held the top Young Guns position throughout the race. Austin Aker
finished fifth overall in the race and finished second amongst the
Young guns drivers. Aker ran bumper to bumper with Burgess the
majority of the race but failed to make an attempt to over take him.
RJ West finished third amongst young Guns drivers.
Jeffrey Kummer claimed the official victory in the B-M
Modified race. Trey Gibson led the first lap of the race before he was
bypassed by Matt Meyer. Meyer held the lead the next three laps before
he relinquished the lead position back to Gibson on lap five. Jeffrey
Kummer moved to the second position on lap six and went after the
leader. On lap nine Kummer over took Gibson and moved into the top
position. Once out front Kummer pulled to a three car length advantage
and held it the remainder of the race. The victory was the third in a
row for Kummer. Trey Gibson finished second. Matt Meyer finished
third. Chuck Mitchell finished fourth. Casey Tucker finished fifth.
Wesley Thompson claimed the official victory in the 600
Legends race. Thompson picked up the overall victory and the victory
in the Pro Class. Several drivers held the lead during the race with
as many as eight cars vying for the victory before the victor was
determined. Jerry rector grabbed the lead as soon as the race started
but Kevin Eskew put the pressure to him immediately. As the two
crossed the finish line at the end of lap one they were virtually
even. On lap two Eskew moved to the lead position. Eskew led the next
four laps while several drivers jockeyed for positions. On lap six
Parker Hammons put the pressure to Eskew and at the end of the lap the
two were dead even at the finish line. On lap seven Devon Jones joined
in the fray and at the end of the lap as the three battled for the
lead Eskew spun in turn four which brought out the caution. Hammons
took over the lead but he was pressed immediately by Jones. Jones took
the lead on the ninth lap. Jones held the lead the next three laps
while several drivers jockeyed for positions once again. Wesley
Thompson placed himself in contention at the end of the ninth lap and
went after the leader on lap twelve. At the end of the lap Thompson
took over the lead position. Thompson was pressed a couple of times
during the remaining laps but Thompson held off each challenger and
took the overall victory. Devon Jones finished second and claimed the
victory in the Semi Pro class. Andrew Brown finished third. Parker
Hammons finished fourth. John Gallman finished fifth. Randy Gunton

second position, Zac Lane third, and Eddie Henderson fourth. The top
four ran bumper to bumper the next four laps until Zac lane began to
battle Jarrett for the second position. The two battled the next two
laps which allowed Suttles to pull away by a couple of car lengths. On
lap six there was contact between Jarrett and Lane which sent Lane
into the turn two wall. Jarrett also dropped out of the race following
the incident. This placed Henderson in the second position for the
restart. On the next two attempts to start the race the track
officials claimed Suttles tried to start too early and therefore he
was sent to the rear of the field and Henderson was placed at the
front of the field. Henderson held the lead the next five laps while
Suttles battled his way back to the second position. On lap thirteen
Suttles went by Henderson to regain the lead position. Once out front
Suttles pulled to a car length advantage and held it the final two
laps and received the checkered flag. Eddie Henderson crossed the line
in the second position. Following the race Suttles’ car failed the
post race inspection and Henderson was awarded the victory. Sam
Roberts finished second. Jimmy Brown finished third. Earl Young
finished fourth. Zac Lane finished fifth.
