Tollison Jr. Takes Summer
Championship Renegade Victory,
Eskew Out Lasts Competition
In 600 Legends Race

Tollison Jr. claimed the official victory in the twenty five lap
'Talking Phone Book' Renegade Summer Championship race ran at the
Anderson Motor Speedway on Friday night July 25, 2008. Shawn
Campbell grabbed the lead at the end of the first lap and held it
till lap nineteen. Tollison Jr. battled his way to the front and
took over the second position on lap thirteen. On lap nineteen
Tollison Jr. battled side by side with Campbell and took a narrow
advantage at the line at the end of the lap. On lap twenty Tollison
Jr. nailed down the lead position. Once out front Tollison Jr.
pulled to a two car length advantage and held it the remainder of
the race. Shawn Campbell crossed the finish line in the second
position but failed post race inspection. Chris Whitfield finished
second. Mike Childers finished third. Jim Reynolds finished fourth.
Jim Skinner finished fifth. Chad Watt crossed the finish line in the
fifth position but he also failed post race inspection.
Kevin
Eskew claimed the official victory in the 600 Legends race. Eskew
picked up the overall victory and the victory in the Semi Pro class.
Four different drivers led the race before a victor was finally
determined. Austin Hill took the lead at the end of lap one and held
it till lap three. Kevin Eskew took the lead at the end of lap three
and held it till lap six. Wesley Thompson took the lead at the end
of lap six and held it till lap nine. Austin Hill bypassed Thompson
on lap nine to regain the lead. On lap ten Andrew Brown joined the
fray and battled Hill for the lead. On lap eleven Brown took over
the lead position and held it till lap fifteen. On lap fifteen Eskew
bypassed Brown and regained the lead for good. Eskew led the final
five laps and took the victory. Wesley Thompson moved to the second
position on lap sixteen and pressed Eskew the final two laps of the
race but Eskew held him at bay to secure the victory. Wesley
Thompson finished second and picked up the victory in the Pro class.
Austin Hill finished third. Andrew Brown finished fourth. John
Gallman finished fifth. Jerry Rector finished sixth and picked up
the victory in the Masters class.
Whitey Suttles claimed the official victory in the
Super Renegade race. Seventy one year old Suttles took the lead on
lap two of the race and never looked back as he led the remainder of
the race on his way to the victory. Eddie Henderson led the first
lap of the race and ran within striking distance of Suttles until he
blew a tire on lap thirteen. Once be repaired the flat tire Eddie
Henderson came from the rear to finish second. Sam Roberts finished
third. Earl Young finished fourth. David Lewis finished fifth.
BJ Thrasher claimed the official victory in the
B-Mini Stock race. Thrasher led every lap of the race on his way to
the victory. Mark Burdett moved to the second position on lap eight
of the race but by the time he had taken over the second position
Thrasher held at least a ten car length advantage over him. Burdett
closed on Thrasher every lap but the laps wound down before he had a
chance to make a bid for the lead position. Thrasher took the
victory by less than half a car length over Burdett but following
the race Burdett’s car failed the post race inspection and the
second position was awarded to Mark Timmerman. Mark Timmerman
finished second. Scott Hamby finished third. Chad Campbell finished
fourth. Jeff Bruce finished fifth.
Trey Gibson claimed the official victory in the B-M
Modified race. Brothers Trey and Corey battled the first lap with
Trey taking control of the lead position at the end of the lap. Trey
pulled to a two car length advantage and held it the remainder of
the race. Corey Gibson finished second. Matt Meyer finished third.
Jeffrey Kummer finished fourth. Chuck Mitchell finished fifth.
Austin Northcutt claimed the official victory in the
C-Mini Stock race. Northcutt led every lap of the race on his way to
the victory. Brandon Hendrix ran in the second position the majority
of the race and ran with Northcutt but failed to make a serious bid
for the top spot. Brandon Hendrix finished second. Chad Black
finished third. Kayla Pritchett finished fourth. Jack Kelley
finished fifth.
Avery Burgess claimed the official Young Guns
victory. The Young Guns ran with the C-Mini Stock drivers and
Burgess finished sixth overall. Austin Aker held that position the
first thirteen laps before a caution appeared. On the restart
Burgess got by Aker and held the position the remainder of the race.
Austin Aker finished second.
