Anderson - All patching to the asphalt surface (over 170 tons of asphalt) was completed last week before the rains came. The Goss Construction team began the initial shaving of the surface over the weekend and will let the track cure out for the rest of this week before beginning the grinding process. Everything is looks and feels great! We can’t wait to get some race cars on the track to try out the new surface. In the meantime we are installing a new fence between the grandstand and the track. We plan to install additional fencing to the outside of the track in turns 1-2 (trackside) and turns 3-4 (pit gate).
PRACTICE: Our first open practice will be held on Saturday, March 27th with gates opening at Noon. Practice will be held from 1PM to 5PM. Tires and fuel will be available. Drivers will also be able to purchase their annual AMS License Applications ($25) on this date. The fee to practice will be $10 per person in the pit area and free for those who want to watch from the grandstands/trackside parking. Additional practices will be held on Tuesday, March 30th and Saturday, April 2nd. AMS will be available for testing beginning on Monday, March 29th – call for track rental information.
SEASON OPENER: The first race is scheduled for Friday, April 9th featuring the return of the Late Model Stocks! We will also run the AMS divisions on this date! Gates will open at 5PM and racing will begin at 8PM. Grandstand admission is $10 for adults/children under 12 are admitted free in the grandstand area and $20 in the pit area. The 2010 Anderson Motor Speedway Junior Fan Club will be up and running with lots of activities planned for the kids.
